As the weather is quite mild at the moment, and spring is only a few weeks away, we wanted to make sure you had an opportunity to be included for this season.
The main plants that our herbicide kills includes: Cape daisy, chickweed, clovers, cotula, cudweed, daisy, dandelion, dichondra, dock, hawkbit, hydrocotyle, mallow, mayweed, neetles, onehunga weed, creeping oxalis, parsley piert, plaintain, pearlwort, penny royal, ragwart, shepherds purse, sorrel, storkbill, thistles, twincress and wireweed.
Please note that the herbicide spray will only kill those plants which have germinated or are currently growing. This herbicide does not harm grasses.
The fertiliser we recommend, on all lawns Turf Master Gold. This is an excellent controlled slow release fertiliser. Depending on your soil type, fertiliser applications should be regularly repeated (on (an average) every 8-10 weeks. This will ensure that your lawn has consistent nutrients in the soil. When we do a weed spray we also apply the fertiliser at the same time.
Also be aware that there is quite a number of fungal infections out on lawns at present.
• Leaf rust – which is where the lawn looks orange or yellow and really doesn’t appear to be growing very much.
• Red thread – which shows as circular areas with red tuffs sticking off the grass.
Both of these fungal can be easily treated with an application of Turf Gold at 4kg per 100m2. A 2nd application is given 4 weeks later. (Rye and Fine Fescue grasses are more susceptible to these fungal than Tall Fescue.)
Or if you would like us to supply Turf Gold, so that you can apply it yourself, email or give me a call to arrange delivery. We are able to supply this product in:-
• 4kg container $34.00
• 4kg plastic refill bag $29.95 (if you already have the 4kg plastic container) or
• 22.68kg bag $120.00
Spring time is a time when the new growth is coming from your lawn. If you would like us to do a dethatch (which is generally done every 3-4 years depending on the grass type), let us know. What dethatching does is to remove any dead litter (which has occurred over winter), plus thin and aerate the grasses.
If you need any assistance with any of the above, please give me a call on 543 1172 or drop us an email.
